Dynastes tityus?? - Dynastes tityus - female

Dynastes tityus?? - Dynastes tityus - Female
Eastwood, Carter County, Missouri, USA
July 30, 2006
Size: 41 mm
A dark female Dynastes tityus(?) that came to my blacklight Sunday night.

Yes
Yes, you're right, looks like a female D. tityus. The size is about right (at the small end for this species) and you can just barely see, along the lower edge of the elytra, the more common coloration of green and black splotching.

Thanks, Steve.
It's nice to get one right.

Interesting
Interesting find. Recently there have been a few posts and enquiries about hercules beetles, male and female.
In the guide it says that their season is: Late spring and summer. May-August (South Carolina).
