Wing bm cell entirely covered with tiny hairs (i.e. trichose)
Eyes bare
Black bands of abdomen complete to edge; margin not narrowly yellow
Male hind femur either yellow or black on basal 2/3
Female mid and hind femora only black right at base, with most specimens having a hind femur that is completely yellow

holarctic, throughout NA (Alaska & Canada to CA & MS to Central America)(1)
