Size: 4 to 5 inches across
I have lived here my whole life and have never seen a moth/ butterfly like this. It's wings seem quit weathered like it had traveled a long way.. Please help, I’m curious to know where it came from. Thanks!

They Come From Mexico....
.... every year. More of them in some years than others, they can fan out from coast to coast. Last year one showed up at a sap flow at the "Catocala Tree" in Central Park, NYC.
