Snailcase bagworm (Apterona helix)? - Apterona helicoidella
Ramelli Ranch, Plumas County, California, USA
July 4, 2012
Size: ~5mm
A couple of these were found on a shrub. The leaf that is in one photo is not the plant that these were on.
Here is a video of the two trying to escape: http://youtu.be/AI99J8fi63k

Moved
Moved from Apterona.

Apterona helix is now considered a synonym of A. helicoidella, the introduced species I was referring to.

Moved
Moved from Butterflies and Moths.
Another, similar species has been introduced in British Columbia. I'm not sure how far it has spread.
