Here's a little encouragement.
Geez, you have two dozen grass skippers listed for your county. I wouldn't hazard a guess, but yours does look like the photo in Butterfiles Through Binoculars: The West. The book makes a couple points of differentiation. To quote...
"Bright orange with much black above that can be seen in flight....rounded wings....Flight is weak."
