dorsal habitus critical
for beetle identification purposes, the single most important piece of imagery is plain dorsal view; other angles sometimes help a lot, but in the majority of cases are of minor value

Some of these others that are not helpful could be frased?

 
may well be the case...
a good dorsal would make all the rest redundant
now, i suspect this to be a male M. notatus but must get a 2nd opinion
