Spex j. - Sphex jamaicensis - Female
Secret Woods Nature Center, Broward County, Florida, USA
Size: ~25mm
sphex jamaicensis digging a burrow. There were about 30 or so females nesting in this small area in the sand and males buzzing around overheard. I have found nothing written about their biology but have seen one with a paralyzed cricket or grasshopper flying back to her burrow.
