Paraclius from Greek παρά, near, and χλειω, close, referring to the nearly closed R5 cell.
Numbers
15 species north of Mexico
Identification
Usually distinguishable from related genera by flat face, bare arista, and pointed first flagellomere. Pelastoneurus has a bulging face and hairs above and below on the arista.
Range
Worldwide, mostly coastal in North America
Habitat
"Nearctic species are found on moist soil or sand or on low herbaceous foliage near water."(1)
