Moved from Moths.

Stenoporpia purpuraria
I think the color, pattern and larger size would indicate Stenoporpia purpuraria (Another common Stenoporpia in Arizona) more so than vernata. Any thoughts? If nothing else, I'll move it to genus page.

Probably 6465 - Stenoporpia vernata
Stenoporpia is a large genus of southwestern moths with a number of similar and variable species. I'll try to have the ID confirmed. Jim Vargo gave 27mm as the wingspan of his specimen shown below. For other members of the genus he gives spans up to 41mm.

Wingspan
You're right, the wingspan was about 1.5 - 1.625 inches. (38-41mm)
