Acmaeodera - Anambodera

Acmaeodera - Anambodera
Kearsarge Trail, above Little Pohole Lake, at 3088 m, Sierra Nevada, Inyo County, California, USA
August 8, 2012
Size: 6 mm
Saw this species twice, each time on the ground along the Kearsarge Trail. I noted the dominant plants in case that might lead to something:
In the immediate area this beetle was found: Pinus balfouriana ssp. austrina, Chrysolepis sempervirens, Artemisia tridentata.
Lower down on the trail, at 2860 m, it was Cercocarpus ledifolius:

Hi Hartmut
These little guys are probably boring in the roots and lower stems of an Eriogonum (Buckwheat).

Thanks Dennis -
There were a number of buckwheats around.

Thanks, Richard -
The other beetle found nearby should be in the same group - correct?
