Cuterebra fontinella grisea
This is a mouse bot, Cuterebra fontinella subspecies grisea. I seperate this to subspecies because I suspect these are actually valid species, via habits and dna. Note the whitish back which seperates it from fontinella. This species uses Peromyscus maniculatus as a host. This form is much less common on BugGuide, so a nice find. If you have a rear picture (from behind) you should post it as this would have the white rump of the fontinella bots as well. Thanks for posting. Sorry I missed this post earlier. Jeff Boettner
