Oddly enough, out of the dozens of plant families represented in my yard, Cruciferae/Brassicaceae is conspicuous by its near absence. Aside from a single Candytuft plant (
Iberis sempervirens
), the closest thing I have is nasturtiums,
Tropaeolum majus
, which are in a related family. I guess the moth was a guest from elsewhere in the neighborhood.

Nice photo. See Robin McLeod's comments at thumbnail below and check out the 3 photos by Jim Vargo that she links to. This is almost surely a Hellula, but probably a species for which we do not yet have photos. I'll send this one to Brian Scholtens for an opinion.
