Size: 1 1/2in long
I totally freaked when I saw this thing in my house and when it started to fly I almost lost it. The closest thing I could find to it is a Stag Beetle.

Agreed, and....
I can add it is in the genus Phileurus. This species is the "triceratops beetle," just forgot the Latin version for it:-) Nice find. They are the only known carnivorous scarabs.
