Interesting.
I think you've got the ID right, based on the upper wing. It's interesting that on this lower wing the little extra white dot typically displayed by Question Marks is not evident.

The complete set of shots of this specimen are around here. Could it be an eastern comma? Looks like a bunch of these species get darker colors as the temperature goes up, and theres been no shortage of that lately.

 
My vote
My vote would be for Question Mark, based on the upper wing. It would be easy enough for the tiny white dot on the underside to be darker than usual or obscured by something, scales fallen off or something like that.
