This is sort of an aside, but I couldn't resist after the description of the pattern given.

A younger synonym for this grasshopper is Hippiscus "rugosus", [for the "rugose" top of the pronotum]. This name isn't used anymore, but it lead directly to the common name "Wrinkled Grasshopper". That name seems silly to me. However, the name "ocelote" is in reference to the leopard-spot (or ocelot) pattern, and the name "Leopard Grasshopper" or "Ocelot Grasshopper" would seem much more fitting.

Maybe I'll start a campaign :0)
