Neoscona crucifera

...
You're welcome! I have a lot of them around my house as well and a particularly large one just off to the side of my front door that has been there for a few months but I never see her during the day. They pretty much keep to themselves and they usually build their webs at night and take them down sometime in the morning. They're timid, rare to bite and not considered medically significant. They prey on real pests like mosquitoes so I like having them around. They're one of several species known by the common name Barn Spider.

Thanks,
I appreciate that info. I find them in our small wooded park. There is a restroom and they like to tuck into the grooves of the outside wall. I also find them on plants - in fact, I just sent another one to ID Request!

Thanks,
Laura, I seem to be finding several of those recently. I appreciate your ID.
