probably Hyperaspis conviva
The dorsoventral flattening is pronounced, and if whatever had damaged the elytra had flattened a more-convex beetle to this extent, the beetle wouldn't have survived. H. conviva is also the only member of the H. signata group that occurs in Saskatchewan (although the H. signata group isn't the only "black with two red spots" group in Hyperaspis).

I'll do some more research, there may not be many similar spp. in your area and it may be possible to rule out everything but H. conviva.
