Tabanus sulcifrons, female
The heavily spotted wings and the white triangles on the abdomen segments indicate Tabanus sulcifrons, female. Although the eye pattern shows just 1 green stripe there is a second stripe (in sulcifrons)in the lower half of the eye. Regarded as a common pest species of horses and cattle in Virginia. It is a "late-season" species ranging from the Great Lakes to Texas and east to the Atlantic. T.sulcifrons is included in a complex of similar species but I have not seen a revision of this complex.

Thank you!
I very much appreciate the information.
