Hyaline winged, irridiscent green hymenopteran with coppery top of thorax, and copper+red cranial vertex. -
Hoplitis
Sierra Nevada Mountains, Mono County, California, USA
July 28, 2012
Size: ~~ 6 mm (rough guess)
I was only able to make these two quick long-distance snaps of this lil' jewel before it disappeared.
I'm grateful for any hints as to which family/taxon this gem might belong.
Feel free to frass afterward.

Fantastic , James !
Thanks for moving it up to the Bee arena !
Given that, I'm thinking
Osmia
subgenus
Chenosmia
.
And if so, could it be
O.
(
Chenosmia
)
basilissa
?
[B.t.w. This question is for all our BugGuide experts.]
