Western Tailed-Blue - Cupido amyntula

Western Tailed-Blue - Cupido amyntula
Pittsburg, Coos County, New Hampshire, USA
August 4, 2006
This species is known from SE Canada, and northern Maine, but this might be the first NH record. Others in our group took a lot of photos of this butterfly with dorsal and ventral views, and sent them to Rick Cech who agreed thinks this is a Western Tailed-Blue.

Yes!
Tom,

I think this record is very significant (!) and I also vote for Western Tailed-Blue, subspecies maritima. I have just posted an image from New Brunswick which relates to your remarks, but I still don't know how to tag your image or create a link to it on mine (I still have so much to learn with regards to Bug Guide !). I work for an affiliate of Nature Serve (the Atlantic Canada Conservation Data Centre) and I will be talking to them about your photo, as this needs to be taken into account when the subspecies status is reviewed...Please go to www.natureserve.org and type in Western Tailed-Blue for more info on the status of this "rare subspecies!"

A buttinski reports...
Denis, check the Help tab for the info you need. The easiest way to put a link here is with the command [thumb:xxxx], replacing the xxxx string with the Bug Guide photo number, found on the upper left corner of your submission.

Thanks Ron!
I had found that the other day and I just could not remember where I had seen it! I will try to go there and fix it myself (learn to do by doing!)
