Size: Over 1" legs extnded norm
Large abdomen, hairy legs, unusual looking back, like a cat face. Found inside a shop vac when my husband removed the filter to empty it.

I agree, it looks most like A. gemmoides to me.

Looks like Araneus Gemmoides to me.

Thank you. From my old Golden Guide I suspected an orb weaver, but it didn't show this one. I think this is a female.

How can I tell if you moved the photo for the "pros" to review, or if it is frassed? Just curious.

Up at the top of the page it currently says it's in "ID request", it will say "Frass" if it's in Frass, "Spiders (Araneae)" if it's been set aside for the experts or "Cat-Faced Spider (Araneus gemmoides)" if one of the other editors agrees with the ID and decides to move it to species.
