Tiger Moth Caterpillar - Arctiina - Acronicta

Tiger Moth Caterpillar - Arctiina - Acronicta
Packwood, Lewis County, Washington, USA
September 6, 2012
Size: 1.5"
Observed on the summit of Tatoosh Peak where I also saw a number of battered Swallowtails which I believe were either Oregon or Anise. Checkerspots (? - see previous image) were also seen in abundance. This, however, was the only caterpillar and it was very active.

Moved
Moved from Butterflies and Moths. Crescents and Checkerspots all seem to have spiny projections on the bodies, not hairy tufts. This looks more like something maybe in Grammia.

Moved from ID Request.

Thank you!
