Hemaris Thysbe at Liastris Spicata - Hemaris thysbe
Stony Brook Audubon Sanctuary, Norfolk, Massachusetts, USA
July 25, 2006
We saw this beautiful moth at Stony Brook's small outdoor butterfly garden recently. At first my son said that he was seeing hummingbirds and I told him that I was pretty sure that it was a moth, but unlike any I'd ever seen. (And I grew up in this state!) So, we took a photo and walked into the nature center to confirm and get a loose name for the moth, then looked it up at home! I'm pretty sure that we have the flower identified properly, but you know, I never thought to look up the bee! He was just a bonus that jumped into the frame!

I took a few photos and there were more than one of these beauties flying around us!
