Orb weaver - Neoscona crucifera
Smithtown/Sunken Meadow State Park, Suffolk County, New York, USA

This orb weaver had set up shop adjacent to the trunk of a 30 ft. tall deciduous tree just a stone's throw away from a parking lot. The tree was growing in a strip of lawn adjacent to a windbreak of other trees and shrubs that screen a boardwalk and beach.
