Macrocera formosa Loew (tentatively)
Moved from Macrocera. Female specimen now a photo-voucher, thanks Tom.

Again, I have no real experience with these. Using Johannsen's 1909 key, this keys to Macrocera formosa Loew and fits the description fairly well, so I feel confident enough to move to species page. (Btw, the longitudinal black stripe on the abdomen appears to be an internal structure rather than surface coloration.)

Macrocera formosa
Congratulations Brad, you've identified the first Macrocera to species yet for the guide! It's nice to start getting some more species identifications from groups that are all lumped at higher levels.

Wornhole
Tom, looks like that wormhole has opened up, again

That's funny
The only 2 sightings on bugguide and they are from over 1,000 miles away again!

Also
Range on the info page suggests that Alabama is not in the range, so it may just be a similar species.

Maybe
I think the reason there are "only 3" may have to do with 70 images stuck at genus.

definitely
[thanks to you sneaking these in :)]
