clearwing ovipositing - Carmenta armasata - female

clearwing ovipositing - Carmenta armasata - Female
Austin, Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center, Travis County, Texas, USA
October 15, 2008
This moth spent a long time ovipositing in various locations on a Texas lantana plant. It sometimes flew away but then returned a few minutes later and resumed its previous activity. It favored the nodes where the current year's leaves had appeared. I'll include several shots of the various locations on the plant that the moth chose to use.
