Ants on a Mating Flight - Lasius neoniger

Ants on a Mating Flight - Lasius neoniger
Pryor, Mayes County, Oklahoma, USA
September 17, 2012
Size: 3.5 - 4.0 mm (workers)
These were all running around on top of the nest at the same time. This happens at the same place in my back yard just about every year.
(I wasn't sure whether these images should be linked, or unlinked with references.)

Here's a video of the ants. I took this in the evening. The next morning they were gone, and an animal had dug up the dirt around the nest.
