Melanoplus lakinus
The male has short(ish) wings, and the female long. They are usually short-winged, but not always.

harumph
They did that just to throw me off. And they succeeded.

Migratory Grasshoppers
These lovebirds are definitely members of the genus Melanoplus, and from what I'm seeing, they appear to Migratory Grasshoppers (Melanoplus sanguinipes). The Arizona Spurthroated Grasshopper (M. arizonae) looks very similar to Migratory Grasshoppers, but these two have the dark bar behind the eyes (which Arizona's may possess, but often lack) and the interiors of their hind femora do not appear to be brightly colored, which they would tend to be on Arizona Spurthroats.
