Adoneta spinuloides? - Adoneta spinuloides

Adoneta spinuloides? - Adoneta spinuloides
Hanging Rock State Park, Stokes County, North Carolina, USA
September 22, 2012
Slug caterpillar. The host tree may be Sourwood (Oxydendrum arboreum), but that is not 100% certain. I believe this could be Adoneta spinuloides, but some of the comments on posted images of Adoneta have made me less sure of whether this could be A. bicaudata. ID help appreciated. Thanks!

Host plant...
Not positive, but this looks like Sourwood (Oxydendrum arboreum), which does occur in Hanging Rock State Park.

Changed our minds
and hope you get an answer here before we move it. Sorry for the double move.

Moved to genus
Well, I suppose I can safely move this to the genus level, and maybe an expert will be able to weigh in definitively.
