Collops sp. - Collops - female

Collops sp. - Collops - Female
Grand Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve/ Grand Bay National Wildlife Refuge, Jackson County, Mississippi, USA
August 14, 2006
Size: 8 mm
Identification help, please! I collected this beetle on a salt panne. The blue color is metalic and the body is covered with fine hairs. I thought it might be either in the Adephaga or Polyphaga suborder (which doesn't really narrow it very much!) and I have no idea after that.

Collops sp.
Most likely a species of Collops, a soft-winged flower beetle in the family Melyridae. Very nice image.

Agreed
I agree, I'll move it to the genus page. Thanks!

C. balteatus?
looks very similar to the type photo of C. balteatus LeConte seen here at the MCZ (I've also seen it spelled C. balteauta).
