cicada - Tibicen davisi - male

cicada - Tibicen davisi - Male
New Market, Madison County, Alabama, USA
August 15, 2006
Size: about an inch
I found this cicada as a nymph crawling up a tree last night. I love to look for them on summer nights and watch them shed their skin. Then I let them go in the morning. This one is different from the usual large bulky Tibicen chloromera which I normally find. Could you tell me what species it is?

Tibicen
You might need more precise measurements to identify this species, although the head looks unusually wide. It is not known to me.

Tibicen davisi
Kathy Hill identified this species for me, and she should know.
