Bellardia bayeri (Jacentkovsky)
Moved from Oestroidea. ID'd from specimen, now a photo-voucher. Thanks Tom!

Tom, what a nice find! This threw me for a loop because I tried keying using the eastern Canadian key (1) and it wasn't making much sense. So I pulled up Whitworth's paper (2) and found it is Bellardia bayeri, an introduced species. The locality records for this species in (2) are Strafford Co, NH and Middlesex Co, MA, so apparently established in your area.

Bellardia are the only viviparous blowflies in North America and are believed to be earthworm parasites.

Thank You!
John just ID'd one of mine. Just wanted to extend my appreciation, thanks!

Brad, great detective work finding the ID on this introduced fly. Thanks for the effort and getting a new genus and species in the guide!

Just a more straight on dorsal. Is this one you want me to save?

family is easy with specimen, but further ID may, depending on what it is, require a specialist
