Nice find Jim! Did you hold on to this bee?
The guide page does not mention its presence in CA. I wonder if there is official list of bees that have been collected in CA. I know this is originally a European species that started out, presumably, on the east coast.

Fabaceae, the primary host flowers are dominated by introduced European species, so I guess it's no surprised that we get the European bees with them!

I still have it somewhere
I 'm sure there must be a list somewhere. It is a long list of about 1600 species. But I could not find such a list online!

I know exactly what you mean!
I am not good at finding actual information online. That's where bugguide departs from the norm. People can actually share knowledge.

Anyway, I just thought you might get a kick out of it if you turned out to have collected the first one for California. You could get it framed and mounted!

BTW - My neighbor Randall Morgan has contributed about 80,000 insects he has collected over the years in CA to UCSC. Someday I hope to go through the collection, and maybe solve some long standing mysteries.

That would be kool!
I will probably send it off to the folks at BOLD. I have found only one specimen 'officially new' to california - see here: (1). Maybe I will frame and mount that one!!

Nice job, especially considering the size!
I may have had a couple new to California species. This one:

I never collected many insects though, but there does seem to be a real need for some to be collected. There are so many I come across, that aren't uncommon. There just doesn't seem to be references for them.
