Cross Orb Weaver Spider with prey - Araneus diadematus

Cross Orb Weaver Spider with prey - Araneus diadematus
Greenville, Providence County, Rhode Island, USA
October 6, 2012
Size: 1" sans legs
I really don't like to take photos of insects and spiders with prey, but this spider is almost identical to the other I submitted from the same day.
It too is an orb weaver and this one used the green wire fence that encloses my yard to spin her web. The web was parallel to the fence and in contact with it, not perpendicular to it.
I've had my share this season of walking into orb webs that are constructed at night between the two cars we have. Eeeeww!
I'm wondering if they are the same species. I found this one about a half-hour after the first, at the opposite end of the yard, a good 20 yards away.
Finally, I looked up and saw ANOTHER similar-looking spider on the house, but it was too high to photograph.

Moved to Araneus diadematus
Moved from ID Request. This is Araneus diadematus.

I frassed the second image since it doesn't really show anything different than this one.

They're predators
It's a jungle out there and I love photographing predators with their prey. It just adds drama, sorta like filming a reality show. But then that's just me :)
