I noticed one of these damselflies here on July 26, then found and photographed another (or the same one?) the next day. It looks like a Bluet (Enallagma sp.), but to my eyes it does not seem to match any damsel pictured in Abbott's "Dragonflies and Damselflies of Texas"... Both times I observed this critter, it was feeding in the butterfly garden not particularly close to water. It seemed very small, in the range of E. basidens or an Ischnura sp., much smaller than Argia sedula or A. apicalis which were close at hand for comparison.

Neotropical Bluet
Identified by Dennis Paulson and Tony Gallucci as a Neotropical Bluet, immature male. Normally the species has a bold black band across the posterior section of abdominal segment 8, dividing the blue tail-spot into two separate spots, but in some individuals (like this one) the black band is much thinner than usual.
