Will check verso, but Riley has 'recorded' Dytiscus carolinus Aubé for College Station, TX (1)

Interesting!
Only one species in the genus has been recorded from TX (D. habilis) but I don't think it is that species.. This is a sulcate female and females of D. habilis have smooth elytra..based on the key in Larson et al. (2000) and distributional records, this is most likely D. carolinus- the southern most limits for that species include AL & GA. A photo of the underside will resolve all doubt.
