Drab Condylolomia - Condylolomia participialis - male

Drab Condylolomia - Condylolomia participialis - Male
Rosseau, Parry Sound, Ontario, Canada
July 15, 2006
I presume that the oblong "growth" or "ulcer" on the forewing of this moth is the origin of the genus name - a condyloma being a wart-like growth on the skin. This feature is missing in some adults pictured on the Internet, so I wonder whether it's a difference between the sexes (?)

Found in the morning beside a shed that was brightly lit the night before; ID based on info and images linked to in Guide.
