Tabanus punctifer - male
Unicolorous black abdomen; thorax bordered by a band of white pile; spot on wing in the region called "the furcation" = punctifer.
Ranges from BC to Kansas, south to Calif, Mexico, Texas, and Oklahoma.
Long flight season: March....November
