Aphids on Milkweed - tended by ants - Aphis nerii

Size: Ant ~4mm
Is this Aphis nerii? If so the guide says the following: "Sometimes attended by ants? (References are contradictory.)". These were being attended by ants (as seen above).

Any idea on the ID of the ant? It was about 4mm.
