D. viridifascia

I reviewed the image several times and compared back and forth, I must admit that this species and the western D. averyi are near dead ringers!!!

At least we have fewer Diceroprocta species in the southeast to deal with than does the southwest...there, it's a complete mess.

Diceroprocta viridifascia

A very common bug in Florida.
The cicada in this pic is a typical color phase for this species along the Atlantic.

Given current distributions of Diceroprocta species, D. averyi is a southwestern species.

The Diceroprocta species listed for Florida are as follows:
Diceroprocta biconica (FL Keys and lower tip of the peninsula)
D. viridifascia (Atlantic & GUlf Coasts)
D. olympusa (most of Peninsular Florida)
D. beaquerti (western panhandle, some debate?)
D. vitrippenis (panhandle, some debate?)

Diceroprocta

There are several similar species recorded from Florida, but perhaps these are synonyms. The species identities need more work.

Diceroprocta averyi

I searched the AMNH Invertebrate Zoology Type Specimens database and believe I found a perfect match. From the white line of pruinosity on the outer edges of the mesonotum to the pubescense on the abdomen. Wing veination coloration is the same.
