Tachinidae? - Gymnoclytia

Tachinidae? - Gymnoclytia
Pennypack Restoration Trust, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, USA
August 7, 2004
This looks like the Gymnosoma shown recently by John Fox. Is it, or is it something related? Any help would be appreciated.

Tachinid
It certainly is a tachind and, yes, it is related to Gymnosoma. The build is not quite right for what I know of Gymnosoma, but hey, I'm from Europe... There appear to be fine hairs on the abdomen, and those seems out of character to me. However, those should be present in Gymnoclytia.

Tachinidae
Thanks Paul. Every bit helps.

Gymnoclytia/Cistogaster?
(Repeat of some comments I made on a similar fly)
This looks close to Cistogaster, OK, looks like North American species are now in Gymnoclytia, acording to nearctica.com.
. See these images from the UK. Genus is on North American checklists, such as Brimley. (1)

This Gymnoclytia at Insects of Cedar Creek does not much resemble this fly. Hmm.

Tachinid fly
I looked at the image that you suggested but the thorax looks quite different. In Citogaster it is dark and shiny, not at all like my fly. We'll have to keep looking.
