I think this is orange-striped oakworm
Anisota senatoria. Compare images here.

Sorry, I take that back - Wagner(1) says Anisota peigleri replaces A. senatoria from southern N. Carolina to FL, so it should be that one. We have these lumped together in the guide, anyway.

Wow, really a nice crop of caterpillars on this tree!
