Cluster Fly - Pollenia - male

Cluster Fly - Pollenia - Male
Round Top, Greene County, New York, USA
October 8, 2012

Moved
Moved from Flies.

Pollenia
Pollenia. The common species overwinter as adults.

Pollenia
Those silky yellow hairs on the thorax make Pollenia one of the easier calyptrates to identify. Cluster flies look so much more attractive alive on flowers than dead on window sills (the way we usually find them).
