Flannel Moth - Megalopyge opercularis

Flannel Moth - Megalopyge opercularis
Gainesville, Florida, USA
This is quite an amazing feat for a larva to have to reach completely around itself to spin such a compact cocoon. More amazingly, it has left a "lid" at the top for the adult to emerge more easily. Stay tuned for the adult, as this will ultimately confirm this ID.
