Moved
Moved from Big-headed flies.

Pipunculidae
this is a big-headed fly (for obvious reasons) (Diptera: Pipunculidae). They are insect parasitoids of mainly homopterans (hoppers)

Diptera: Pipunculidae
Hi Matt,
I'd thought it would be an easy one to ID when I photographed it, due the large sized eyes. But couldn't find anything too similar, which offered a clue. I'll move it to the proper section. Looking at the other ones, I probably over stated the size. It had been someitme since I'd taken the photo, and couldn't recall.
Many Thanks,
tom

Great addition
We only had two of these and none from this state. Thanks Matt, I learned something today.

Similar?
The only thing vaguely similar is this one. I hope that somebody can ID yours because I still don't know the ID of mine.
