Take a look at the rustic groundcat (Orthodes majuscula). Not seeing the black middorsal spots on A1/A2 but I'm thinking that has to do w/ the posture.

 
How about...
Athetis tarda, "Owlet Caterpillars of Eastern North America" p.396? It states "Superficially similar to Rustic Groundcat" and prolegs bears black stripe. That's my cat! What do you think?

 
If some of those dead leaves
If some of those dead leaves were oak leaves I think you've just ID'd your caterpillar. I love some of the common names these guys have, the slowpoke.

 
Majority of
those leaves are black oak. This leaf cat is on in this image isn't oak, but I put on it just for photograshs...
