Bee on steroids? - Mallophora orcina

Bee on steroids? - Mallophora orcina
Jacksonville, off of Heckscher Drive, Duval County, Florida, USA
June 22, 2011

Mallophora
Mallophora orcina, and yes, they are impressive hulky bee mimics. This one looks like it's been through the wringer, though-- look at how frayed its wings are. Odd, since the date was still in the first half of their season.
