Dasymutilla
The color pattern with the head wider than the thorax suggests Dasymutilla aurifera, although your specimen is much brighter red than most aurifera I've seen.

D. aureloa var. pacifica
This species is the red variety of D. aureola, they are only separated by color and a few minor and variable characters.
