Bright red grasshopper - Amblycorypha floridana

Bright red grasshopper - Amblycorypha floridana
Lake Wales, Polk County, Florida, USA
August 5, 2006
Size: 2-4 inches??
Found this beautiful critter at Lake Kissimmee State Park around 6pm in an area that (without our current drought situation) would be a wet, floodplain area that's inaccessible. Couldn't get a head shot of it though.
