This is an immature, and it's spot pattern isn't right for audax. Do you have P. carolinensis in CT? I'm raising some in my lab, and the immature's look a lot like this one, especially the metallic sheen, which they loose as adults. It's probably too early to sex this individual, you'd have to look at the pedipalps, and they may not be developed enough yet.

Seems to be audax
From what I've learned in my research and the comments of others, I'm leaning towards audax. Based on the size, shouldn't this be an adult? I've never seen a Jumping Spider this large before, nearly twice the size of the others I've seen on average.

 
What is the range for the P.
What is the range for the P. carolinensis?

We would guess at P. audax female, Edwards photo 32, line drawing 239, but it will be interesting to see what Tom says. Of the nine or so Phidippus in Connecticut, audax looks the best.
